Turn your home into a Renewable Powerhouse

I started my journey towards our renewable powerhouse about 5 years ago when my neighbour installed solar panels on their house.

A year later I contacted the installer and asked him for recommendations and for a quote.

We own a duplex house with 2 separate smart meters, so we agreed on a 6.6kW of solar with a 5kW inverter and a 4kWhr battery for our unit and a 2.5kW unit for our rental unit. This reduced our power bill to zero and a few credit $'s for us and reduced the power bill for the rental unit.

As it was working so well for us, a year later I decided to upgrade as I had just ordered an EV. So the rental unit became our 6.6kW system with a 12kWhr battery (the tenant now does not pay anything for power). Our system now has a 10kW inverter, 12.5kW of solar and 13.2kWhr of battery and together we export 4 times the power we need. This power goes into the local grid, which gets their power bills lower.

Since the beginning we saved the burning of nearly 30 tons of coal and we feel good about that.

Our hot water system is always hot, our house batteries are always full by early morning and our EV which is charged by solar costs us nothing to run.
